For an inexpensive version try using vases or jars from your kitchen. Pick up pumpkins, squash, pears or other fall items from the grocery store. Try using leaves, twigs, bark or other natural elements that you find outdoors.

I haven't done much fall decorating but here are some small projects.
I wrapped the bottom of my twigs with twine. I love the way these look in
a clear vase.
